There is action, positive action that all youths must be part of in one way or the other.

There shall be a market day for all the youth groups in Makadara division , Nairobi,Kenya on 23rd December 2006, at Jericho Social Hall, from 8.00am to 6.00pm.

This is a forum organized by various youth groups to mark the end of this year. The objective is to celebrate our successes and learn from others what positive , innovative and create projects youths in the area are involved in.

The forum is the first of its kind and will also change the youths attitude that market for our products and services is outside , not for us a perception very common and rampant among the youths in this area. the day shall be graced by the presence of government officials, more so from the Ministry of Youth Affairs, members of the community, private and corporate sectors and youths from other parts of Nairobi.

Please circulate this information and whoever is in kenya and Nairobi, join us and lets support the youths in their ventures to create sustainable livelihoods.

welcome and keep supporting the youth voices and actions.

youths in public leadeship
Related to country: Kenya

The youths have continued to participate in the development process and lack in public decision making cadres.

In kenya this is so much practical, as in most public ofices the youths are visible as workers and not in high ranks that make decisions. we are approaching a general election next year and the most interesting thing to note is that all the parties and political camps are trying to entice the youths to join as voters. The ruling coalition and the opposition all have in a way suggestively pointed to their candidates of choice for the presidential candidates , but none is a youths.

The youths must wake up and entrench themselves in the positions of things must change. Its time that young persons take power to shape the destiny of this country. By taking power am not in any way advocating for violence but peaceful aggitation and alignment strategically.

The youths should stop this idea that the old guards are okey and should be there in the front line for things to move, i hear most of them saying that all we need is to support the NARC coalition or ODM(orange democratic movement). The question that we youths should be asking is what is our role and positions in this parties/movements or coalitions.

As we break for xmas lets think of alternative leadership , with values and morals but not to play dirtier to get favours from any regime. we must be the change we want to see in the world and fight for what we believe in if we want to succeed.

African Youths
Related to country: Kenya

At the last African Youth ministers meeting in Addis Ababa early this year , November was suggested to be the month of the African youths, what are we going to do about it. Starting tommorrow the the youths in Kenya have organized a Pre-world social forum to chat and find the position of the African youth before the world social forum sheduled for january 2007 in Kenya. this is yet another opportunity to make the youth voices be heard and shape the destiny of the develping nations by having youths at the center as mover and decision makers rather than domant participants and recipients of policies.

There is no turning back,

world leadership youth summit, look out!!!
Related to country: Kenya

The World Un leadership Summit is on in NewYork. Kenya is represented by tow youths in the forum.

the meeting will shed light on strategies on how different sectors and partners are addressing developement issues,in regard to MDGs.

Check out on the presentation on Kenya , of key emphasis here is the govenrments commitment to mainstreaming youth issues and realization that no develpoment can take place without centre staging the youths. The ,Ministry of Youth Affairs created in december 2005, has already developed a strategic plan that has a focus on 8 areas this is in line with MDG 8 that advocates for opportunitiesfor the youths.

The areas of focus are:
youth and enviroment
youth and health
youth and training
youth and ICT
youth, crime and drugs
youth, participation and empowerment
youth recreationa leisure and community service
youth and employment

In all these areas action plans are being developed, its us to make sure that this plans are not papers on the shelve and that the youths actually participates in their preparation and execution actively influencing the policies, action and directiing activities.

we must listen to the leaders talking and task them to make practical their policies and walk their talk.
